#508A This has to be one of the most popular pieces in the Byers Choice Caroler line. When it was issued in 1991, she was the first of the "Cries of London" series. She was not very popular at first because she was sitting. The Apple Lady first appeared wearing striped stockings, then changed into plain red stockings (her basket of apples also changed with/without handle). As it got closer to the holidays, the supply for the benches ran out and orders were not filled. Panic started among collectors and all of a sudden she was "the" caroler to have. Since the Cries of London are only made for one year, she became the most saught after caroler.
This Apple Lady was reintroduced in 2008 for Byers' 30th Anniversary.
